Why I Love Chia Seeds
Chia seeds are more than just a new fad. They were regularly consumed by the ancient Mayans and Aztecs. One tablespoon of chia seeds is packed with protein, fiber, and omega 3 fatty acids. They have no cholesterol. I use chia seeds instead of eggs when making all sorts of dishes like pancakes and waffles. In addition, I make a fast and easy super breakfast of chia and fruit pudding. Eating chia seeds or flax seeds on a regular basis is a great way to protect your heart.
Chia Pudding:
Place two tablespoons of chia seeds in container. Add berries and other fruit. Add one and ½ cups of water, almond milk, or a plant-based yogurt. Cover and let it soak for at least 15-30 minutes or alternatively place in refrigerator the night before.
