Warwick’s welcoming community attracts families

Warwick
is one of the most populated towns in Orange County, New York, but has acres of
agricultural farmland and beautiful outdoor scenery. It was recently named one of
the top ten places for a weekend vacation by Stylecaster.com.
The
Mount Peter Ski area offers verticals of 400 feet and 69 acres for day and
night skiing. Ski lessons are available, as is tubing. The site originally opened
in 1936 as a site for Macy’s to showcase its ski fashions and is now New York’s
oldest operating ski area.
Other
outdoor sites in Warwick include playgrounds, hiking trails and even a
waterfall, providing lots of fun for families to explore. The Warwick Valley
Farmer’s Market is open on Sundays from May – November. As well, Stanley Deming
Park, Mount Peter, Greenwood Lake, the Appalachian Trails and Thomas P. Morahan
Beach are all open to the public and offer boating, swimming, winter sports,
bird watching, kayaking, paddle boarding, biking and more.
Festivals are popular in the town. A free summer concert series is held
in the parks and there are contests, including an onion eating contest, and
annual duck derby. Family events are held at the many area farms and
orchards, with the Warwick Carnival held each June with rides, games, live
entertainment food and fireworks.
There
are local wineries and a variety of restaurants.The Warwick Drive-in is a family
favorite to catch a movie. Warwick also has a golf course, shopping, art
galleries, salons, yoga studios and more. Plus, the Warwick Historical Society
offers information, lectures, archives and reenactments from the area.
There’s
a little something for everyone at Warwick, especially fun for active families that
like to be involved in the community.
