Discover, enjoy, spend the day!

In the town of Union Vale, among rolling green hills, cow pastures and tall farm silos is beautiful
Tymor Park and Forest. This is one of my favorite places to spend a day, during the warmer months. This 500 acre park has beautiful hiking trails, large green fields and always hosts community events the whole family will love.
We always choose to start our day at Tymor hitting up the park's awesome playground! Conveniently located right next to the parking lot, it's a great place to run and play before setting off on a hike! Your kids of all ages will love the slides, swings and large playing fields; parents will love all the benches and picnic tables to sit and relax while the little ones romp!
After some play time, it is time to explore the park's hiking trails; located directly behind the playground. The trails pass by ponds, streams and eventually end at a small waterfall and "magic rock" area! The trails are flat, well maintained and perfect for families with all ages. The mature forests and ponds are home to a variety of creatures that your kids will love hunting and exploring! During the spring months lots of peepers, wood frogs and salamanders can be found along the trails and in the water throughout the park!
After exploring the fields and ponds, your family can follow the trail to an old iron furnace area. The old pipes, furnaces and remnants are so fun to climb and explore. My daughter loves this area; traversing fallen logs, splashing in the creek and searching for "magic rocks." Thousands of rocks left behind bear the marks of being heated at high heat in the old furnace. My daughter refers to them as "magic" because they glow and shine purple and green, looking a lot like hidden gems!
As if a rocky playground and magic rocks are not enough, the trail also boasts a small waterfall that spills over into the large creek. This makes for a beautiful backdrop and sweet treat after your long walk! Pack a picnic and grab a seat on one of the large boulders to enjoy a bit of peace!
Family friendly hiking trails, woodland creatures to discover and a beautiful playground; all the perfect elements for a great family day, outside!
Tips for this visit:
- The trails are usually dry but can sometimes get muddy, I would highly suggest proper walking or hiking shoes that you don't mind getting wet.
- There are public bathrooms in the buildings by the playground.
- There is plenty of free public parking.
