Go tubing down the Esopus

Family friendly things to do in the Hudson Valley

Go tubing down the Esopus

Hold onto your shorts! New York State Rivers make great family adventures this summer. Whether you want to brave the whitewater rapids or take a leisurely float down the river you can find fun on the river that’s right for you.

The Hudson Valley may have gorgeous views of the mountains and Hudson River but will disappoint when it comes to tubing. (Though you will find boating and other water sports available). A short drive up north you will find the best tubing down the Hudson, but there are a few spots right here in the Hudson Valley totally worth checking out.

I suggest making a day out of your tubing adventure by packing a picnic (Picnic Spots), stopping for a hike (Hiking Spots) or perhaps a swimming hole (HV Best Swimming Holes) along the way.

Once you hit the water enjoy a relaxing, kid-friendly ride taking time to notice the birds and other native wildlife with Adirondack Tubing Adventures. Or if timed correctly you can catch the Esopus when the Department of Environmental Protection releases water from the Reservoir to provide the city with more drinking water resulting in a wild rafting ride!
