things to do in warwick new york with kids and family

The Hudson Valley is jam packed with diverse, cultured, quaint towns... basically the Hudson Valley has it all. Today we're focusing on the home of the Hudson Valley Jazz Festival... Warwick, New York. Pack the family in the car this weekend and head over to Warwick. While you're there, check out these great spots!

1. Catch a movie at Warwick Drive-In

Wholesome movies, home-cooked food and three screens… What could possibly be better on a summer day? Sure, going to a theater is a blast, but nothing can compare to the laid back atmosphere of watching a movie from your car (especially since you won’t have to worry about making a scene when your child has the inevitable “but I want popcorn now” meltdown)! Patrons are free to bring their own food or purchase yummy treats from the snack bar.  Fido is even welcome at the Warwick Drive-In! Just don’t forget the bug repellent if you’re planning on setting up shop in front of your car.

2. Grab a bite to eat at Fetch Bar and Grill

This pup themed restaurant is perfect for a relaxed meal with the family. The walls are filled with beautiful paintings and photographs of dogs that will make you want to cave to your kid’s latest plea for a pup.  You and the kids are sure to love Chef Adam Powers’ individual baked macaroni & cheese. You can customize your dish with delicious add-ins like peas, tomatoes, mushrooms, ham, bacon, chicken, and more! While you’re there, don’t forget to ask Chef Powers’ about his appearance on The Food Network’s Chopped!

3. Pick your own apples at Ochs Orchard

Ochs Orchard has the freshest fruits and veggies. Pick your own berries, apples and pumpkins. Take a stop by the petting zoo and say hello to Misty and Eeyore before getting some ice cream or even trying a fresh baked pie.

4. Check out the sculptures at Pacem in Terris Sculpture Garden

Experience peace and tranquility while looking at beautiful works of art. This space is created along the Wawayanda River and is a perfect place to do some exploring!

5. Hike the Appalachian Trail

The first section of the Appalachian Trail in Warwick has been welcoming hikers since the day it opened in 1931. Hikers of all levels can be accommodated here and at every point of the trail there are breathtaking views. Our favorite family-friendly trail is Wood Duck Trail located on Rte. 565. Wood Duck Trail is a 4 mile flat hike. Keep an eye out for native bird species, turtles, frogs, and more! Bug repellent is strongly recommended!
