The Hudson Valley is full of artsy, historic, urban, suburban, and eclectic towns... basically the Hudson Valley has it all. Beacon was dubbed the new Williamsburg last year. Which only confirms what us Hudson Valley residents already knew... Beacon is the place to be! Pack the family in the car this weekend and head over to Beacon. While you're there, be sure to check out these great spots!
1. Grab something to eat at Tito Santana Taqueria
We just can't get enough of this awesome taqueria. The chefs put their own twist on classic tacos and Mexican food. Vegans rejoice! Tito's offers AH-MAZING vegan tacos, burritos and street corn that's to die for.
2. Admire the river view at Long Dock Park
This historic site once contained a rail ferry terminal, warehouses and other building. Today it has been cleared of all commercial use and now creates a riverfront spot for boating and kayaking. Its meadows attract wildlife and people looking to unwind and connect with nature after a long day.
3. Play disc golf at Beacon Glades
Disc golf combines all the rules of golf with the fun of throwing Frisbee! Plus you'll get a workout walking the wooded course (and searching for your discs... if you play anything like us). Give disc golf a try at this free 18-hole course designed by Beacon Disc Golf Club.
4. Visit Bannerman Island
Take a Kayak Tour or walk around. Once you’re on the island take a guided walking tour of the famous Bannerman Castle ruins and gardens. Be sure to book your tour in advance!
5. Finish out your day with a treat from Glazed Over Donuts
If you happen to be in Beacon on a beautiful Saturday and notice a giant line forming, it's probably the line to score a couple donuts at this funky spot. The coolest thing about this family-owned business is that customers can create their own donut concoctions! Some of our favorites include the s'mores donut, the strawberry toast crunch donut and of course the maple bacon donut!
