A Ten Minute Pause

I see you, mama. You are doing it all for everyone but yourself.

It goes so quickly. Ten minutes.

When was the last time you stopped and deliberately took ten minutes to yourself for yourself?

Even if it has to happen after bed time.

I’m not talking about watching Netflix or scrolling your phone.

I’m talking about an intentional reset. A way to check in with yourself and see how you’re doing. Take your temperature.

What do you need? Spoiler alert: it’s not a glass of wine or to eat (unless you are genuinely hungry).

It is to breathe and be present. To see yourself. To recognize that perhaps you have not taken ten minutes for yourself in quite some time.

Visualize the impact this could have on your mood. How would it feel to stop and see yourself? Really see yourself.

See the hard working mommy/wife/employee you are. See that you don’t take time for yourself.

You can’t be the mom you want to be to your amazing children without first being your own mom.

A cold glass of water or a hot cup of tea? A hug? How can you offer yourself a moment?

Where do you get pleasure in your life? I’m not talking about wine or food. 

I’m talking about true joy. I am suggesting it is possible to find pleasure in your life, in your being. Have you even given yourself the opportunity to try?

Just take 10 minutes. Breathe. Think. Don’t think. Cry. Laugh. Sing. Dance. Go for a walk. Whatever you need to do. See yourself. Recognize you are amazing.
