Teach your kids to cut down on water
A little bit here and there can make a difference
by Amber Becker
Talk to your children about how much water they use every day and how to cut down it. When they brush their teeth or wash their hands, teach them to turn off the water when they aren’t using it.
When washing hands, teach your child to wet their hands, turn off the water, soap up, then turn the water back on to rinse off the suds. If your child wants a drink of water, teach them that it’s better to turn the faucet on after the cup is positioned under it so that less water is wasted. It may be tougher during those teen years, but encourage your child to take shorter showers so less water is used.
