Summer Fun Day #5: Eat and Play in Milton

I seem to want to write about this place a lot, I can’t help it! If you haven’t read my posts about it before then I'm about to let you in on a little secret here in Orange County, NY. This place is serving up deliciousness, a party room and a complete kid friendly atmosphere complete with cooking classes all year long.

Frida's Bakery and Cafe in Milton is managed by the owners of the great Buttermilk Falls Inn and the very popular Henry's at the Farm Restaurant and run by "Dave the Baker" Meltzer. Originally brought on board to provide bread for the inn and restaurants, Bob (Buttermilk Falls owner) and Dave quickly decided to open Frida's.

Frida's Bakery and Cafe brings a high standard of quality, service and hospitality. They offer a large selection of artisan breads, pastries and coffees as well as house- made breakfast and lunch options.

The food though isn't the only highlight of your trip to the bakery here. Order your food and then take the elevator (if you have a stroller) upstairs to the large playroom filled with giant foam blocks, coloring books, a pretend kitchen and a variety of other toys.

QUICK PRICE GUIDE: Top kid friendly restaurants in the Hudson Valley

It really is all about convenience here. Light up pagers let you know when your food is ready, kid and adult sized water fountains ensure no one goes thirsty while playing hard and public sinks, bathrooms and condiment stations both upstairs and down make it easy to manage with little ones in tow.

The fun doesn't stop there either! Frida's Bakery offers a number of kids classes, workshops and events each month. Hurry and register fast, if there is still room you can bring your children to Frida’s tomorrow to learn how to roll dough, make pie crust and use seasonal fruit to bake your own pie to take home!

Other upcoming classes in July include: Kids cake pop class, kids create a cookie, mask painting and decorating, pizza making and flower pot painting.

So step out of the heat this summer or find some fun on a rainy day at Frida's Bakery and Cafe in Milton. fridasbakeryny.com
