Step onto the grounds of one of the most beautiful spots in the Hudson Valley, Locust Grove. This gorgeous estate covers 200 acres and includes an Italianate Villa, miles of carriage roads, gardens, magnificent Hudson River views and a not- for profit museum and nature preserve in Poughkeepsie. You can print a map before you go or grab one at the museum shop.
The Samuel Morse Historic Site is the home of the artist and inventor of the telegraph and Morse code.
Inside the museum, step back in time to the early years of the 20th century with a collection paintings, furniture and personal possessions including the telegraph invented in the early 1800s and various rotating exhibits.
Spend a few hours exploring or pack a picnic and your hiking shoes and spend an afternoon. The grounds will easily provide endless hours of fun for the whole family.
The mansion is currently open for tours at Friday - Monday 10:15, 11:30, 12:45, 2:00, 3:15. Cost is $15/person. Admission to the grounds are free.
