The Walkway Over the Hudson has quickly become one of the Hudson Valley's favorite attrations for families. It's free (or inexpensive) you can walk, ride, watch the boats and trains along the river and enjoy many of the parks and activities on either side of the bridge.
One of the best things about the walkway is that it’s enjoyable to everyone. Its wide and flat surface means anyone young and old can have an easy, pleasant stroll — even for parents pushing strollers and people in wheelchairs. And at 212 feet tall and 1.28 miles long, it is the longest, elevated pedestrian bridge in the world — almost a 3-mile round trip walk from the parking lot.
The Walkway is also a great place to people watch. On a nice weekend, you will often different organizations with activities, sometimes offering face painting, free balloons, and live music to children and adults. To check out their full list of upcoming events, visit walkway.org.
This Saturday at dusk, bring a blanket and some popcorn and enjoy a family- friendly movie under the walkway at Upper Landing Park (Poughkeepsie side).
