Sprout Creek Farm and Kid Season (AKA Baby Goats)

Sprout Creek Farm and Kid Season (AKA Baby Goats)

Loving the kids at Sprout Creek Farm Baby Goats

Sprout Creek Farm and kid season is here. Yes, it the adorable and awesome time of the year when many kids aka baby goats are born right on the farm.

Sprout Creek Farm

This week marked our second visit to the farm since the births started. Our first trip, there were only a few kids born. We got to go and watch them being fed and Abby helped hold a bottle. However, this week, we returned again and there were so many including a mama whose water broke  and was in active labor!

They feed them around 11 am and 3 pm. This is great if you are homeschooling too. We combine it into our lesson plans. We got there around 10:30 am. Then shortly before 11 am, we joined a group of high school aged children in the pen with kids that had weaned from their mom’s but still needed bottles. I was given my own personal baby goat to share with Abby. They give each goat their own bottle and show you how to feed them. Our goat was being difficult and I was covered in goat milk. So be prepared to smell like a farm animal and get covered in milk, goat slobber and whatever else might come your way. Abby girl enjoyed the experience and I was just in Heaven.

After they were all almost fed, we went out with another mom who had a daughter about my daughter’s age and the worker asked if they wanted to help feed the other groups of kids. They are not hand bottle fed anymore. They have this cool bucket system that has the artificial nipples attached to them. We went in the first pen and fed them and then went in the second pen and fed the next group. The girls loved playing with  the massive amounts of baby goats.

Sprout Creek Farm

Sprout Creek Farm is great about posting updates on social media including Instagram. We know we will be trying to fit in at least one more visit to see the kids this season. Last season we missed it by only days and were so sad.

So go see the cuteness and learn all about the kids at Sprout Creek Farm. If you can, make sure to check ahead as sometimes they aren't available for viewing like if there is a private event! Oh, and don't forget to stop by and say hi to all the other farm animals too. They also have some adorable baby calves right now and chicks!  The farm store is undergoing massive renovation and currently isn’t open yet. See you at the farm!
