Sprout Creek Farm

Discover, enjoy, spend the day!

Dutchess county, farm, dairy farm, real working farm, kid friendly, family friendly, things to do, places to go, ice cream, picnic, animals, local

Baby goats are just about my most favorite thing in the world and this place is full of them! Baby goats, baby cows, baby sheep, chicks...it's an animal lovers wonderland. Your family can pet and mingle with farm animals to their heart's content and it's completely free!

Located in the heart of Dutchess county, right outside the city of Poughkeepsie; Sprout Creek Farm feels like a peaceful sanctuary. This working farm allows you to connect with the animals that make your food. Your family can watch cows and goats go from grazing in the lush green fields, to being milked and finally as the milk is made into cheese that is sold right in their farm store. Your kids will love trying cheese, milk and ice cream all made from the milk that comes right from their animals! The farm store is open during the summer Tuesday-Sunday 10am-5pm and they sell a variety of local and house made products. We love to grab an ice cream cone and relax peacefully on the inviting front porch.

Feel free to peruse the gardens at Sprout Creek Farm, your family will love exploring the beautiful flowers that attract, honey bees, butterflies and (my most favorite) hummingbird moths! The farm seeks to connect people with the land and there is no better place to do this than walking among their rows and rows of stunning blossoms and vegetables.

The animals are spread out all over the farm making it fun to explore each of their habitats. Pigs wallowing in deep mud, snorting and playing. Sheep laying in the shade of their barns, occasionally coming to the fence line to be pet. The farm birds (chickens, ducks and turkeys) often running free, it's so fun to watch their antics. Goats, romping and playing which always makes my daughter giggle!

There is a large grassy area outside the farm store where your family can lay a blanket or set up on one of the shaded picnic tables for a meal al fresco! The farm encourages you to spend the day hanging out and enjoying their property. We love making a whole day of visiting Sprout Creek, it's such a wonderful place to learn, explore and unwind!
