Balance + Core Strength

sagetree
Yoga brings to mind stretching and balance poses. Certainly, they are a major part of your practice. But strength moves feature prominently in yoga, and these poses shape your body symmetrically and beautifully because the body works synergistically as a whole to perform them. Sage Tree Side Plank pose can be very challenging but yields tremendous benefits:
  • increases core strength
  • develops upper body strength
  • improves balance
  • cultivates focus
If planking with a straight arm is too hard on your elbow, try it on your forearm. Start off holding it for one to three breaths, and work up to longer periods of time. Breathe naturally throughout, and as always, listen to your body.
