Thanks for the permission, Sir Mix-a-Lot, but we already knew that side bends are an excellent way to lengthen the waist and allow deeper breathing.

Yes, I am a side-bend-loving gal, and when you get deep into this pose, you'll see why. As you bend to the side, focus on lengthening both sides of your waist and reaching outwards, not down. Your side body will feel like a flower opening up to the sun. This extremely pleasant stretching sensation is like no other. And when you do side bends regularly, you will find that you can breathe deeper and longer in your yoga practice and during your daily activities. Perhaps Sir Mix-
