Summer is winding down this month but there are still so many things to do in the Hudson Valley with your family you'll have a hard time choosing most weekends. From fall festivals to exciting community experiences there is so much fun on our calendar this month we had to pull out a few of our favorites just for you. On a tight budget and still want to have some fun this month?  Relax, there is more than enough to keep your family busy without spending a dime!

8: Saturday

Celebrate Grandparents' Day Story Walk. Drop in to celebrate National Grandparents' Day! There will be a story walk set up in the program room to read together and then supplies will be available to create something special for your grandparents or any other special person to let them know how much you love them! 1-4pm. Old New Paltz Stone House Day. Historic Huguenot Street is pleased to announce a special revival of Stone House Day, a formerly annual tradition, which will be hosted in partnership with the Town of New Paltz. On Saturday, September 8, the National Historic Landmark District will host Old New Paltz Stone House Day to celebrate the 340th anniversary of the settling of New Paltz. It will be a celebration of all the cultures that impacted New Paltz and Ulster County including African, Dutch, English, Esopus Munsee, and French. 11am-4pm. 81 Huguenot St., New Paltz. 255-1660.

Pirate Weekend. Prepare to be boarded, matey, as the Shire is overrun with privateers and buccaneers! Learn to speak and fight like a pirate all weekend. New York Air Show. The 2018 New York Air Show will include demonstrations by the West Point Parachute Team. Matt Chapman, an extraordinary aerobatic pilot, will also be featured. Fall Foliage Festival. Free admission and parking with over 150 vendors. Lots of delicious food, 3 entertainment areas, live music, petting zoo, pie baking contest and an antique and classic car show. 10am-5pm. Downtown Port Jervis. 1 Jersey Ave., Port Jervis. 858-4000.

29: Saturday

In The MKNG. A new festival celebrating creativity, imagination and inspiration. An expected 150 vendors and people who love to DIY, create and craft will gather for hands-on, family-friendly experiences over the course of the two days, including live demonstrations, interactive activities, craft vendors, food and music. 10am-6pm.
