Looking for a way to entertain the kids for hours while stuck indoors? Here is an easy recipe for making your own home-made playdough. (Cook on the stove version). 

What you'll need:

. 2 cups of water
. 2 cups of flour
. 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
. 1 cup of salt
. 1 tablespoon cream of tartar
. a pan
. a wooden spoon
. food coloring (optional)

Instructions:

1) Combine the ingredients into the pan.

2) Stir the ingredients over low heat until your playdough clumps.  Remove from heat.

3) Separate the playdough into balls.  Poke a hole in each one and add the desired food coloring for each.  Knead the color in the dough.

Here's a recipe that will make a bigger batch.
This recipe can also be made in a mixer or by hand.

What you'll need:

. 7-8 cups all-purpose or bread flour
. 3 cups salt
. 3 tablespoons cream of tartar
. 1/4 cup vegetable oil
. 4 cups hot water
. food coloring

Instructions:

1) Mix seven cups of flour together with the salt and cream of tartar in the mixer bowl.

2) Add the oil and water and knead with a dough hook for five to six minutes. If kneading by hand, knead for eight to ten minutes.

3) Add more flour to get a soft, workable dough.

4) Store the dough in a sealed container to keep it from becoming dry.
If it becomes too dry, place it back in the mixer bowl and knead in a drop of water.
