Pine Ridge Dude Ranch-Return to the Ranch

Pine Ridge Dude-Return to the Ranch

Pine Ridge Dude Ranch, Kerhonkson, NY

It has been many years since my farewell to what was formally Pine Grove Dude Ranch in Kerhonkson, NY. I basically spent my awkward teenage years heading to the ranch for up to ten days at a time throughout the 90s and ending in the millennium at the ranch. I even got my first kiss at the ranch. Well, sort of, my lips couldn't get over my braces. Many memories over the years.

awkward years

It was like a huge part of me grew-up there. I had a large amount of nervous excitement returning after over fifteen years.

Since 2000, there have been changes. It re-opened in 2018 by two former guests and the former barn manager with a name change to Pine Ridge Dude Ranch and there have been many upgrades/improvements.

 THE STAFF AND ATMOSPHERE-

When I pulled into the ranch, it felt like a homecoming. I went up the front desk and was greeted by very friendly staff just like the old days. In fact, all the staff was super helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Our waitress was great and I promised her a shout-out on my blog! Hi Francelix!

I also noticed the guests wandering around were relaxed and friendly. I take this as a good indicator. We chatted with many people and got a lot of attention. Though some of that could have been my child’s many fashion changes from her pink monster feet, dining as a unicorn or her cowgirl attire.  But truly, it was a very relaxed down-home atmosphere. I actually forgot to check my email while I was there and was barely on social media! That is crazy for me.

THE LAYOUT-

The layout felt very familiar and somethings still were the same like the cowboy statue and the moose head. I could also navigate around there and I knew where most everything was located. However, upgrades are very noticeable everywhere.

The Chuck Wagon now has many in between meal quick snack options and even accommodates vegans. Chuck Wagon

Back in the day, it was fries and burgers. The pool even now has a slide! The

Silver Dollar saloon is not dark and smokey anymore. It's much more welcoming and still very rustic yet modern. There is also a great arcade for children big and small. I will show pictures in next weeks blog post!

THE  ROOM-

The room was awesome and we were in the newly renovated Dakota Rooms. There are other types of rooms depending on how many in your party.  The sheets were not scratchy and itchy like in many places you stay. It was like sleeping on velvet. I didn’t even have to B.Y.O.P (bring your own pillow.)  The hardwood floors in the newly renovated Dakota room gave it a rustic touch. Just be careful, I’m a foot shuffler and I almost landed on my butt a couple times if wearing just socks. But, they are fun to slide on like that scene in Risky Business. But, I'm not recommending it.  There was even a set of bunk-beds that my monkey child spent the weekend going up and down, up and down. The bathroom was very clean.

THE FOOD at the Roundup Corral (where you eat your three meals a day)-

Abby eating Lunch

The food Abby Girl gives two thumbs and a toe up as she actually went for seconds. We all know how an appetite of many three year old go. At home, all I hear is "chicken nuggets and fries or bagel." Yes, bagel. Breakfast we thought

we were done and went to do something else and she wanted to go back to dining room and eat another plate of food! The salad

It's all inclusive so your main meals are included. Breakfast and lunch are buffet style and include many choices. Also, there is always something at the salad bar at all meals. The huge assortment of salad bar choices was very fresh and I loved the gold fishes. It spoke to my inner child. They had a large assortment of fruits at salad bar for breakfast. The portions were huge and very delicious at dinner time. Felt like comfort food. The deserts felt like something grandma would bake.

So if you are looking for a great, family friendly, all inclusive place to spend a day, weekend or even week, we give our recommendation.  It was an awesome homecoming and no issues being snowed in! Plenty to do. In fact, Stay tuned for next week where I discuss activities you can do at the ranch even when snowed in or any other type of inclement weather that will keep even my very hyper three old occupied the whole entire time!

Learn more about it here and current specials. They are also on Social Media! Yeehaw (Abby girls words to describe ranch).
