Painted Mickey Mouse Planter

Easy Painting Fun For Little Hands

Easy mickey planters

Last week I shared with you our experience with We’ve enjoyed our crafting days there so much; we decided to share our favorite craft that you can easily make at home.

This Mickey Mouse planter is perfect for the Disney fan in your life. It’s super cute and inexpensive to make.  Here’s what you’ll need:

Newspaper or plastic table cloth

6” Terracotta pot with saucer

Black paint

Red Paint

Sponge paint brush

White felt

Glue

Small plant (choose one that works with the light in your house) or cactus

Small rocks

Potting soil

Begin by painting the bottom portion of the pot with the red paint. Next, simply paint around the top lip of the pot with the black paint. Now allow your paint to dry for about ten minutes.

While the paint dries cut out four small circles from the white felt. These will look like Mickey’s buttons. Next, glue the felt circles to the painted pot. Glue two circles to one side of the pot, and then the other two circles to the other side of the pot.

Let the paint and glue fully dry before you transplant your favorite plant into the pot. If you purchase a small plant from your local grocery store, or favorite nursery in the same sized pot as the one you painted, you will not need to purchase extra soil. We filled the bottom of each pot with a handful of small rocks (not pebbles) to allow for better water circulation.

In the end you have a cute potted plant to lend extra character and warmth to your home. My kids are excited for the extra responsibility of having plant in their rooms. This fun planter is a great surprise gift for a friend, a neighbor, or even drop it off at a local nursing home.
