Halloween can be a scary time of year for many kids, but
many kids live in fear all year due to food allergies or sensitivities. The
most common, and most deadly, food allergy is a peanut allergy. However, many
kids can’t have gluten or dairy, food dyes or sugar.
Why not do something crafty instead? Whether you make
it yourself or create an experience for kids to create later is up to you. But
the idea is for kids to feel safe and included in the fun. Here are some crafty
fun ideas you can share with your kid’s classroom and avoid the fear of food
allergies.
Mark the occasion
Craft an adorable Halloween themed book mark like this bat bookmark. It’s easy to make and fun to use!
Bigger isn’t better
Make a mini pinata filled with small trinkets like a glow
stick, spider rings, stickers or tattoos. These mini Halloween piñatas are
super cute!
Get in the game
It just doesn’t get any easier than hand drawing a master
tic-tac-toe board onto orange paper to make a dozen copies with and include a handful of plastic spiders.
This will take you less than five minutes to make for an entire classroom! Get
the full instructions here.
Make them laugh
Relive the fun of those paper fortune tellers you made as a
kid. Instead of telling your future tell some funny jokes with these printable joke tellers.
Keep it simple
Nothing buys a few minutes of quiet time like coloring.
Print off a Halloween coloring page, fold into a square and tie a small packet
of crayons to it with a string. Boom! You can even wait until the witching hour
the night before the class party.
These are also great to hand out to trick-or-treators as an
alternative to sugary candy. Place your craft of choice inside a teal pumpkin
and add a free printable sign from The Teal Pumpkin Project for the little
ghosts and ghouls in your neighborhood.
