The Town of Newburgh is in the northeast corner of Orange County, New York. With about 30,000 residents. The town is on the west bank of the Hudson River and is 60 miles north of New York City. A portion of Stewart International Airport is located in the town and the town offers easy access to major highways, including Interstate 84, the New York Thruway Interstate 87 and others which make both travel and commuting convenient.
The Town of Newburgh offers a variety of housing options, including condominiums, apartments and single-family homes to either rent or purchase. The area is rich in state parks, nature preserves, mountains, rivers and lakes, giving families a variety of outdoor expanses to explore. Popular activities include hiking, biking, camping, golf, swimming, boating, kayaking, fishing, bird watching, little league, football, tennis, basketball, apple picking, leaf viewing, nature walks and picnics. Winter activities include access to skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, ice fishing, ice skating, snowmobiles, tubing and sledding.
Storm King Mountain and State Park is nearby. This nearly 2,000 acre site has plenty of space to explore and learn about nature. The historical society does storytelling, guided tours and reenactments in the park and the nature center is a great place for hands-on learning for kids with talks, classes and hands-on exhibits.
The Town of Newburgh is an easy drive to other towns in Orange County. There are carnivals, festivals, concerts, shopping malls, museums, drive-in movie theaters, orchards, vineyards, breweries, farms and more to explore. Orange County is a fast-growing area, with plenty of small-time charm.
