Movement is good for the body and mind, and there is no better time to start a healthy habit with your family than during “Exercise With Your Child Week,” which falls on August 6-12 this year.

Here are three ways to celebrate physical fitness with your family during the week-long event and beyond:

1. Participate in a fun run: Sign up for a 5K race or community fun run. You don’t have to run the entire time. Walking is perfectly acceptable too! The important thing is to set and complete a goal as a family.



2. Play pickleball: Get in on the trend that’s sweeping the nation and play a game of pickleball. Similar to tennis, the sport is less strenuous, as it’s played on a smaller court with a lighter ball, making it a good choice for those new to exercise.



3. Take a hike: Combine your sweat session with an appreciation for the outdoors. Find the nearest nature trail suited to your family’s skill level and get out there for a hike or bike ride. Use the All Trails app to find the perfect location for your adventure.
