Celebrating children with a spectrum of abilities

Meet the winners from our "My Abilities are Super" contest

In March, Hudson Valley Parent was proud to team up with Abilities First to present the second annual "My Abilities are Super" Cover Kid Search. We had tons of entries and got to meet amazing children of all abilities.

These amazing boys were chosen by their families, friends and the Hudson Valley Parent audience.

Meet some incredible kids ad help us celebrate them!

contest winner deskin

His parents Julie Ann and James say: "Deskin is a happy kid who always has a smile on his face and a fighter spirit. He never gives up. We hope that Deskin always stays as happy and positive as he is now. We hope people will be able to see Deskin for all that he has overcome, and all that he is, instead of for the things he cannot do."

contest winner michael

His mom Megan says: "Michael is smart. He is able. He is willing to learn. He loves to read and enjoys being challenged. He loves with his entire being and his hugs are the warmest. Having him in our lives did not happen by chance and I truly believe that. I am so lucky to have him and he has changed my life indefinitely and has truly made me a better person."

contest winner vincent

His mom Danielle says: "Vincent is an incredible boy who has taught our family to appreciate each and every moment and milestone. He works hard every day and is an incredible artist and writer. I hope he grows into a man
who is independent, happy and surrounded by love. I hope Vincent always knows how much he is loved!"

contest winner benjamin

His mom Julianne says: "Ben is the most amazing kid! He is loving and sweet with a lot of energy, an amazing giggle and a beautiful smile. My hope for Ben is that he can become more comfortable and able to communicate because I think that he has so much to offer the world. I hope that he grows up to have a close friend and I want him to live a happy life."

contest winner charlie

His mom Aaron-Noel says: "My hope for Charlie is that he continues showing kindness to all and that others show him the same kindness in return. Charlie has an incredible power with music. He can hear a song once and will be able to identify it later. He loves to play drums and sing with his sister. We are a musical family and jam sessions are a nightly tradition."
