Spring has finally arrived, and with the longer days and warmer weather comes some of our favorite things: lots of sunshine, weekend trips to the park, ice cream for dessert, and of course, a chance to celebrate Mom. If you normally spend Mother’s Day munching in bed on Froot Loops hand-delivered by the kids and are looking for a more traditional dining experience this year, we’ve got you covered.

1. Roundhouse

For Mother’s Day, the Roundhouse’s main dining room will serve its a la carte brunch menu with slight modifications for the big day. The menu features lots of traditional brunch foods with a special twist, like lemon and ricotta pancakes, Yukon potato waffles, spiced deviled egg salad, and Berkshire pork hash. While you eat, enjoy spectacular views of the Beacon waterfalls through the dining room’s floor-to-ceiling windows.

2. Henry’s at the Farm
220 North Rd., Milton; 845-795-1310

Henry’s sources all its ingredients from local farms and artisan food producers and purveyors, giving a boost to Hudson Valley business. You’ll be able to taste the freshness in so many menu items, including various omelets, Bananas Foster French toast, huevos rancheros, and buttermilk malted Belgium waffles.

3. Shadows on the Hudson

This is a great place to go for an affordable meal with beautiful views of the river. Their special brunch features hand-carved dishes, including slow roasted prime rib, herb roasted turkey breast, and country ham. If you want your meat with a side of fresh fruit, a garden salad, or are looking for traditional breakfast or lunch foods, the assorted buffet has it all. From omelets and waffles made to order to penne ala vodka and chicken marsala, there will be plenty of food to satisfy any craving.

4. Caffe Macchiato
99 Liberty St., Newburgh; 845-565-4616

This quaint café sources many of its ingredients from local farms and producers. Your family will feel right at home at one of its cozy tables. The menu features lots of creative dishes, like shirred eggs gruyere, baked eggs ratatouille, sausage pesto frittata, and Amaretto French toast and bacon. You can also check out the seasonal lunch menu in the afternoon, as the café is open from 9am to 3pm.

5. MacArthur’s Riverview Restaurant
674 Thayer Rd., West Point; 845-446-4731

Located at the United States Military Academy, this restaurant is known almost as much for its beautiful surroundings as it is for its delicious cuisine. Dine on the Sunday Champagne Brunch – complete with live-action cooking stations for home-made waffles and traditional Bananas Foster as well as its famous giant shrimp, smoked salmon, salads, decadent desserts, and unlimited champagne, Mimosas, and Bloody Marys.
