Most moms dream about spending Mother's Day free of cooking, cleaning and catering to the family's every need... for just one day. You don't have to spend a lot of money to make mom's day extra special- we betcha quality time will certainly do the trick. We have already done all the hard work for you!

1. Brunch
Rule #1 of Mother's Day: mom stays outta the kitchen... well at least in my house. I'm not a fan of cooking so on Mother's Day I proclaim I'm off duty as short order cook around here. If same goes in your house suggest a delicious Sunday Brunch. A few favorites include The Bear Mountain Inn, a brunch cruise aboard the Pride of the Hudson, Mother's Day Brunch at Angry Orchard, or Twisted Soul Food Concepts at the Vassar College Alumnae House.

2. Mom into Sci-Fi, comic books and video games? Take her to Comic Con 2019
Fun for all ages, Hudson Valley Comic Con features puppet and drawing workshops, coloring, speakers, special guests, Q&A and much more! 10am-7pm. Gold's Gym, Poughkeepsie.

3. Visit a farm and plant some flowers

4. Visit Mount Gulian for a free tour in honor of Mom
Make Mother's Day extra special this year with a visit to Mount Gulian. There will be no charge for mothers! Tour the house which overlooks the Hudson River, an 18th century Dutch barn and restored garden.

5. Let mom shop

6. Dive into an arts and crafts project
