Most of us have felt back pain at some point either from overdoing it or from a sedentary lifestyle. This stretch is called Miracle Stretch for its ability to bring immediate relief from back pain. However, you don't have to suffer from back pain to benefit from this move. Done properly, this stretch helps the back to settle into its natural curves which are flattened out by poor posture and too much sitting. Keep these pointers in mind when performing this movement:
  • Breathe slowly and naturally throughout the move.
  • Bring your legs together and reach strongly down into your feet.
  • Don't lift your head--let the weight of your head be supported by the ground.
  • If you feel discomfort, come down slowly out of the pose.
