quick and easy tips to customize your Instagram Stories experience

If you're a fan of Instagram stories, these quick tricks can up your game ... especially when it comes to your first-day-of-school stories!

1. Post pics and videos from your camera roll. 

To access photos and videos you've recorded or downloaded to your phone in the last 24 hours, simply swipe the screen up and select. 

2.  Decorate with polka dots or other shapes.

• Take your photo or video (or import one you've already taken within the last 24 hours.)
• Tap the pen tool.
• Choose your color, and then click on the three-dots-button on the bottom left of your screen. Scroll up or down to make your pen bigger or smaller.
• Tap on the screen to make polka dots.

3. Add even more colors to your stories.

• Open the brush or text tool by clicking.
• Tap and hold any of the default colors.
• Choose a custom color from the custom color palette that will appear.

4. Create a drop shadow effect for your text.

• Tap the text (Aa) icon.
• Write a message. Click Done.
• Tap the Aa icon again. 
• Write the same message in a different color. Click Done.
• Layer texts for a drop shadow effect.

• Tap the pen icon.
• Tap a color.
• Tap the image and hold until screen changes to selected color.
• Leave screen blank or write a message or draw on it.

6. Pause a story. To pause a video when watching a feed, simply hold down the middle of the screen.

7. Go backwards. Click the left hand side of the screen to go back to the previous image or video.

8. Go forwards. Click on the right hand side of the screen to skip to the next image or video.

9. Skip to the next person's story. Swipe left.
