Summer art camps heat up creativity for kids


Are you looking for additional artistic summer programs in the Hudson Valley? There are plenty of dance, music, and performing art camps in Dutchess county, Orange county, and Ulster county for kids to try!

1. The Music School at Dutchess Community College

 

The Music School at Dutchess Community College offers  1-week

and 2-week summer intensives in Performing Arts, Piano, and more.

 

All of their summer music institutes are geared towards musicians of all skill levels, and every program offers a summative performance which families are invited to attend! (845) 431-8916


2. Orange County School of Dance

 

“Children flourish when surrounded by the arts,” says Joanna Furman-Markowitz, owner of Orange County School of Dance. “Self-esteem, creativity and pride in their accomplishments are a few of the many benefits of being involved in the arts.”

T
he Orange County School of Dance in Monroe offers dance and arts camp for ages 5 through 18 years old. Dance camp consists of ballet, modern, jazz and repertory classes where an entire dance is taught in one week. Arts camp consists of art, group piano, voice and a jazz dance classes.


The dance classes are taught by Furman-Markowitz, who danced professionally in New York City.  The voice and piano classes are taught by Nafisa Manapat, a music instructor at the school with over fifteen years of teaching experience.


Also offered is a Theater Camp that is a 4 week program culminating in a performance in their theater. (845) 782-2482

3. Summer Adventure at Woodstock Day School

 

“In an intimate and supportive setting, with adults at the helm of each age group, Summer Adventure provides a magical and stimulating way to spend summer days,” says Pam Camara, instructor at Summer Adventure at Woodstock Day School.

 

A day in the life of a Summer Adventure camper includes an array of enriching activities such as African drumming and dance, singing, art and ceramics, games and activities, movement, swimming, nature and science, and gardening. The camp is designed for children ages 3-11. Their Specialty Camps offer a variety of special interest themes for campers from ages 5 and up. 


Summer Adventure held is Monday to Friday from 9 am to 3 pm. Our before care and after care program will be available dependent on COVID-19 protocols to be determined at a later date. 845-246-3744 (ext. 120)
