Getting Peace & Quiet With Google Home (Mostly)

A few weeks ago I wrote about the creative ways my family uses Google Home. And I’m back with another update.

Moms need to get stuff done. A lot of stuff. There’s laundry, cleaning, bills, play dates, coffee, shopping, and the list goes on and on. For us lucky few who work from home, some of these things require child-free time.

My son is a mega cuddle bug and I’m not complaining here, but it’s really difficult to finish typing a coherent thought when he’s standing on my lap showing me the sticker stuck to his sock. Once again, Google Home has come to my rescue.

I taught him how to set a timer for 30 minutes on Google and promised when the timer went off, we would have playtime. My super attention seeking son is totally chill with this idea. He feels a bit of control setting the timer and since I always stick to my end of the deal, he lets me work in peace (mostly).

And for the days when I’m really busy, I’m taking advantage of the fact he doesn’t understand time yet and quietly change the timer from 30 to 60 minutes.
