Dining Out: Daddy O's Restaurant in Newburgh

Delicious food at the Newburgh Mall

My latest restaurant venture took me and my co-worker, Jesse, to Daddy O’s Restaurant. After a full day of shopping, we were starving. Luckily, we didn’t have to go far since Daddy O’s is located right inside the Newburgh Mall.

Appetizer: Daddy O’s has a huge appetizer menu. After much deliberation, we chose the Santa Fe Rolls. The dish comes with three large egg rolls stuffed with cheddar cheese, seasoned chicken, grilled corn, black beans, peppers and onions. To make the dish even more irresistible, the rolls come with sour cream and guacamole on the side. Jesse and I both loved the egg rolls. They had just the right amount of spice.

Entrée: Between the sandwiches, seafood selections, poultry dishes, soups and salads, it’s hard to decide what to eat. I thought about ordering another serving of Santa Fe Rolls for my entrée, but we both opted for the Shrimp Scampi instead. We asked for the chef to add steamed broccoli on top. The dish came with sautéed shrimp in a white wine, garlic and basil butter sauce served over a heaping mound of pasta.

The pasta was perfectly cooked. I love garlic, so the sauce on top was right up my alley. We were both glad we opted for the broccoli on top. The broccoli added just the right amount of crunch to the dish. The star of the meal, by far, was the grilled shrimp! It was perfectly seasoned and grilled just right. All of the flavors in the dish worked very well together. The portion was so ample, we both asked for a doggie bag.

Dessert: The pasta was so filling, but we had our eye on the dessert menu from the minute we sat down. We decided it wouldn’t kill us to split a slice of Carrot Cake... after all, carrots are healthy! Boy were we surprised when we saw the giant slice of Carrot Cake that was placed in front of us… yes, we devoured the entire thing!
