Crawford, Town of
From aliens to apples, Crawford has something for everyone

Crawford,
a town in the north part of Orange County, New York, is a great place for
family fun. The town is made up of several villages: Hopewell, Bullville, Pine
Bush, Searsville, Thomson’s Ridge, and Collaburg, each is full of history
and charm.
Crawford’s
family-centric activities can be enjoyed by all ages, from summer day camp for
children to senior citizen fitness classes at the recreation center. People of all
ages love exploring the Pine Bush farmer’s market where they find buys on fresh
flowers, in-season produce, locally tapped maple syrup and a wide variety of
homemade food items including pickles, baked goods and cheese.
The Town of Crawford also offers a summer concert series on Friday nights, whose free live music in the park is sponsored by the town and facilitated by the Pine Bush Area Arts Council. Movies are sometimes shown after the concert.
Crawford
is famous for its annual Halloween Spooktacular, where people from areas near
and far are invited to bring their kids for town-wide trick-or-treating. Candy
and other snacks are also provided. The event is free, but donations are
accepted.
The
other festival Crawford is famous for is a bit different. It’s the Pine Bush
UFO Fair, a family-friendly event that’s held each summer on the second
Saturday of June. During the fair, the town’s Main Street is closed to traffic to
provide a place for guests to experience numerous activities, like alien beauty
pageants, costume contests, game shows and live performances. A speaker tent
hosts lectures on aliens, UFOs and other paranormal activity. The UFO Fair is
one of the most popular activities in Orange County and is rapidly growing each
year with people traveling great distances to attend.
Aliens not your
thing? Crawford also has great apple picking in its many orchards.
