July is Disability Pride Month, and DEC is committed
to expanding access to our shared outdoor spaces
for people of all ages and abilities. Recently, over $5 million in state
accessibility projects were completed to expand recreational opportunities for
all New Yorkers to enjoy.

Destinations for wheelchair accessible features at education centers, campgrounds, day use areas, waterway access
sites, trails, and more!

DEC also offers
facilities that have been designed to provide shore-based fishing access to
anglers and boaters with disabilities. You can find information about Places to Fish and Boat Launch Sites on the DEC website.

All projects
advance DEC’s Adventure NY initiative, with the goal of
connecting New York families and visitors with the great outdoors and improving
their experience. Also available are a variety of programs aimed to accommodate
people with disabilities, including discounts for outdoor recreation, free and reduced fee sporting licenses, and Motorized Access Permits for People with Disabilities
(MAPPWD).
