Create laminated name tags that can be attached to towels, water jugs and backpacks – even though your child may not be able to read, they can probably recognize their name and this can be a fun way to personalize your child’s items as well.

• Make sure your child can tie their shoes or think about using sneakers that may not require tying.
• Explain to your child that if they have any problems to talk to their counselor and tell your child how they can identify a counselor (specific colored shirt or other identification).

• Review the contents of the child’s backpack with them and show them which compartment has water, snack, sun block or other items.
