Horseback riding is great fun and can be therapeutic too. Whether you are looking for a nice trail ride or lessons for your child, you can find a great barn here. 

Dutchess County

Calypso Farm has a horseback riding lesson program for all levels of riders. Whether you are a first time rider, an avid competitor or just getting back into riding, we have a horse and instructor for you. Their quality lesson horses and ponies are carefully selected by experienced staff and with their quality facilities, the farm guarantees the riding experience you are looking for. Lessons should be arranged in advance, and a series of ten or more lessons may be purchased.

Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue is dedicated to providing a sanctuary for unwanted, abused, neglected horses and to improve the relationship between horses and people. Horse enthusiasts ages 3 - 7 years are invited to drop in any Saturday morning at 10am for our exciting & educational Pony Pals program. Pony Pals is a fun, hands-on equine experience that teaches youngsters the basics of horse care, grooming, and riding. Takes place rain or shine! Riding lessons are available in Hunt or Stock Seat.  All lessons are taught by CHA certified riding instructors. Private and group lessons available.

Meadow Creek Farm is a great farm for kids to learn from the ground up. You will receive private or group instruction in Hunter, Jumper and Equitation. The instructors have expertise in each of the riding disciplines. Any of their programs can be customized for the rider.

Professional instruction for all levels of rider, on your own horse or one of theirs. The weekly rides typically last 2 hours and are unlike others you may have experienced. The farm is fortunate to have access to an extensive trail system as well as their own wooded areas and fields. These rides are held throughout the year. Rides are tailored to the weather to ensure your safety and pleasure. As always, you can ride your own horse or hire one of theirs for the day.

Runnin Broke Ranch offers 1 hour private and group lessons on your own horse or on a Ranch horse. They have horses suitable for those who have never sat on the back of a horse before on through to advanced riders. They have lessons year round between the outdoor and indoor arenas. Lesley specializes in helping those with fears or reservations about riding overcome such.

Year round lessons are offered Monday through Saturday for ages 5 and up, specializing in the hunter jumper style. Southlands conducts a full range of equestrian activities on site including unrecognized hunter/ jumper shows, dressage shows, specialized clinics with nationally and internationally recognized instructors, as well as summer programs and periodic evening  programs.
