Teacher's insider tip for wearing face masks

Teacher's insider tip for wearing face masks

Angie Madden, a Georgia teacher, extols the use of the face mask bracket.

This is a time when people create unique solutions for problems we are facing.

Georgia teacher Angie Madden says she is a loyal shopper on Amazon. As she was searching for school supplies she came across what she calls 'the coolest thing."  It is a plastic bracket that sits on your face and keeps your mask away from your mouth and nose. According to Madden, "It looks really weird, but it is amazing."

She says it is great for people who have to wear the mask all day and also have a need to talk clearly with others. Not only for teachers, but works it great for people working on a factory floor room where it can be noisy and hard to hear the muffled voice under a mask.

Recently I went to my car dealership and the service tech took his mask off in order to explain what needed to be done on my car. I have to say he was behind a plastic shield. With the plastic face bracket, he could have kept his mask on and talked clearly.

In the video, Madden explained how it works, noting it sits underneath any common mask to help it stay in place all day long. She posted her video on Facebook on August 21, 2020. And since then media outlets have really picked up on this Tip of the Day.

People are definitely following her idea. It has been viewed over 14 million times, shared over 300,000 times and currently has more than 31,000 likes.

“To all my teacher friends, I ordered the coolest thing on Amazon. You stick it on your face, and you put your mask on, and when you wear it it keeps your mask off your face,” Madden explained in the video. “So you can hear me clearly, I’m not breathing my mask in, and my mask doesn’t move off my face. I wore it all day. I didn’t have any issues. It looks really weird but it’s amazing.” Teacher tip for all my teacher friends! You have got to get one of these!!

The only caveat to the face mask bracket is to ensure your mask still fits snugly over your face. Make sure there are no areas where there are gaps. It is also suggested that face mask brackets should be washed after each use. Many say that these brackets lessen the irritation caused by cloth masks, and they could be good for those with sensory issues.

Here are three mask bracket options available on Amazon right now. Although there are many mask bracket options I am sharing the list published from Travel + Leisure because of their claim that each product they feature has been independently selected and reviewed by their editorial team.

Oceantree Mask Bracket
The Oceantree bracket is specifically designed to help make masks more comfortable for kids. The mask has tiny loops inside to thread the mask through and is designed to sit on a smaller face.
