Date with my toddler

This museum was the best place to have a date with my 3 year old! He cooked up a full course meal for his mommy using their state of the art “fake” kitchen that comes fully equipped with an oven and stocked with the freshest vegetables. First we went shopping in the general store that is always stocked with current items. We then had an emergency fire call which he led his fire team into the truck and quickly hosed it down while steering his way in the front seat. We then went upstairs where he became an engineer as he created pathways of least resistance to steer balls into a pathway. Awesome time for mommy to forget the stresses of daily life and imagine life through his eyes. Thank you

Great place for learning & play!

So many hands on activities for kids to learn from. Keeps them busy for awhile. Pretty clean.
Family sized bathrooms & elevator for strollers. Deducted one star because of the price. It is a little costly to go frequently. I asked grandparents for a membership for a Christmas gift which has been well worth it!

We like going to The Mid Hudson Children's Museum. We all have learned something from going there. She loves standing in the bubble machine and being surrounded by a big bubble. I think most of all she likes dressing up like a construction worker because then she gets to be just like dad

What A Way To Spend The Day!

My children love to spend the day at the Mid-Hudson Children's Museum. I try to set an itinerary for us so we can maximize our time and balance out the day between learning, breaking for lunch and just plain ol Fun! I like to arrive around 10:30 am allowing my son and daughter explores each station on the first floor. At around 12:15-30 I like to break for lunch; in the summer sitting outside in the designated picnic tables with a great view of the Hudson River. At around 1:30pm we return in doors where we convene to the second floor exploring the Dinosaur bones and then over to their favorite stations: The Water Station:) and then the indoor slide! After spending the rest of the afternoon up stairs we usually leave around 4:00pm to head home. They usually fall asleep on the way home and have a great nights rest! What A Way To Spend The Day!

Love to bring my toddler here and let her explore freely. Each scene keeps her occupied and happy for hours. What a nice place to go to all year round but especially on the winter.

A Day of Imagination Fun

Want to spend a rainy day or any day just having fun? The Mid-Hudson Chrildren's Museum is the perfect place to go! This is the perfect place to go to allow your children (and Parents and Grandparents) to use their imagination while learning and playing. So much to do! You can spend hours exploring all the different displays, and watch your children have fun with these "hands on" activities. Need a break? Outside you will find the perfect picnic area to enjoy lunch. After lunch, you and go back inside the museum for more fun! A great family day and fun opportunity for children of all ages.

My 18 month old son loves going there! He has such a great time playing in the different exhibits. The exhibits are changed from time to time. Every time we've been there, it's been quite clean.

Great Family Time!!

The Children's Museum is such a great place for family time. It's a great learning experience for my kids. With 3 small children, we are on a tight budget and every third Saturday the museum takes donations. This is the time that I can take the whole family. The kids are always so excited to go. They especially love the water center with the little duckies. A great place for all !!!

Mixed reviews on the MHCM

I have very mixed feelings on the Children's Museum. My 2 year old daughter always enjoys herself and we can easily spend the day here. The exhibits and playrooms are educational and teach children about different cultures. However, the museum is in need of some updating and I often find the exhibits are missing pieces or are not working. When I have informed the staff of these issues they note the problem but do not go about correcting it. I also feel at $7.50/person (children AND adults must pay) it can be a bit pricey for what you get. I understand it is a non-profit but I feel most residents located in this area of Poughkeepsie could not afford to go here. That being said, I think it's more cost effective to purchase a membership and we probably will do that this holiday season. It is one of the few places in Poughkeepsie for children and we will definitely head there once we can no longer play outside.

Take advantage of the free nights!

I really love the variety at MHCM and we try to make it out there for their free nights. The only thing I don't like is how they charge for adults that bring the kids there. So just for going, it costs us almost $30. They do offer memberships for those who are closer to Poughkeepsie.

Field trip

I have had field trips at the museum. It is very educational and engaging for students at the elementary level or younger. Having the students kinesthetically discover the world around them is so amazing! It's a great place to have a field trip and bring your family to.

My boys love the museum! I love that I can sit and just watch them play or engage as much as I want. We mostly love the downstairs area, the free play and the new imagination playground. I haven't put my littlest in the new baby area but its a great idea to have a smaller place for them to play! I wish more of the exhibits upstairs were in better working condition, which is my only reason for not giving 5 starts but my kids are so young they don't know any better Anyway.

We recently took our 15 month old here for the first time and it was a blast! I think they do a great job in choosing exhibits and structures that will appeal to all ages! She had a great time especially with the pipes and plumbing exhibit since her dad is a plumber! Can't wait to buy our membership and keep going back!
