Volunteer with your family to clean up a local state park


I Love My Park Day is an annual event that brings together thousands of volunteers to enhance and celebrate New York's amazing parkland.

Parks & Trails New York in partnership with New York State Parks and DEC, will provide the opportunity for volunteers to participate in cleanup events at over 120 state parks, historic sites and public lands from Long Island to Western New York and covering all regions in between. From beach clean-ups to trail restoration and tree and flower plantings, hundreds of events are planned to spruce up our parks and get them ready for the summer season.

Please meet at Trailside Museums & Zoo Office near the Bear Mountain Bridge. Various, helping hands to interface with the public, garden projects and garlic mustard pulls. Please bring a happy attitude and helping hands. Palisades Parkway or Route 9W North, Bear Mountain.

Please meet at Beaver Pond Camp Office. Painting, planting flowers, stick removal, stone removal. Please bring jeans, boots, hat, a lunch. 700 Kanawaukee Rd., Stony Point.

Meet at the Visitor Center’s main building. Volunteers will have the opportunity to work on native tree and shrub planting, learn to identify and remove invasive plants, and meet new people. Bring clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty! We will provide water, gloves, and tools. Participants are encouraged to bring their own refillable water bottles and a packed lunch. 5096 New York 28, Mount Tremper.

We will be planting annuals and cleaning up around the garden in College Hill Park. No gardening experience is needed! This event is appropriate for all ages and skill levels. 149 North Clinton St., Poughkeepsie.

Meet at the Hubbard Lodge Garden. Building a native plant pollinator - friendly garden bed. Please bring gloves, long sleeve shirt, garden fork, work boots. 1498 Route 301, Carmel

Little Stony Point Citizens Association is a proud participant in I Love My Park Day. Help make this Hudson River Coast Line the most pristine and welcoming in the lower Hudson Valley. We will be picking up liter on the trails and beaches around Little Stony Point. T-shirts will be available to volunteers. Ideal event for corporate volunteers and scout groups. FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. 3011 Route 9D, Cold Spring.

Meet at Staatsburgh State Historic Site north parking lot. Cleanup of brush, weeds, leaves and invasives in 2 locations: the Hoyt house at The Point, and the entrance bridge to The Point in Staatsburg hamlet. Please bring sun block, hat, bug spray, sturdy shoes. Pruning tools and hedge clippers would be helpful as well. 9 Old Post Road, Staatsburg.

Volunteers will clean up park lands and beaches, plant trees and gardens, restore trails and wildlife habitat, remove invasive species and work on various site improvement projects. 5281 Route 44-55, Kerhonkson.

Join us for a day of stewardship and service at Olana State Historic Site and help make sure OLANA, Frederic Church's artist-designed landscape, is prepped, clean, and ready for another great season! 5720 State Route 9G, Hudson.

Depending on the number of participants, we will have 3 teams, trail maintenance/clean-up, community garden path maintenance/mulching, and brush clearing. 10-14 years old with a parent and 15 and up! 79 Farmstead Ln., Wappingers Falls.

Taconic State Park is proud to host its 10th annual I Love My Park Day. Join us safely this year to celebrate a legacy of park support and beautification thanks to the generosity of volunteers like YOU. This year's projects include cleaning up our beautiful kiddy pool, spreading mulch in our playground, cleaning out flower beds around the park and sweeping off the camping platforms! Bring a water bottle and work gloves. Bring a rake, broom or shovel if you have one! FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. 253 Route 344, Copake Falls.

Taconic State Park is proud to host its 10th annual I Love My Park Day. Join us safely this year to celebrate a legacy of park support and beautification thanks to the generosity of volunteers like YOU. The local disc golf crew will be hosting. We will be building and fixing up tee boxes, trimming brush back and mulching the wood trails. Bring a water bottle and work gloves. Bring a rake, broom or shovel if you have one! FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. 59 Rudd Drive, Millerton.

Meet up at either the East or West Welcome Center to help clean up, plant and be part of the beautification of the Walkway grounds. Highland Entrance, Highland.

A chance to volunteer in Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park and make a difference. 61 Parker Ave., Poughkeepsie.

Start at Pavilion B (This volunteer activity is in wooded terrain). It is recommended to bring rakes, garden shovels, work gloves, bug spray, sunscreen, and dress for the weather. Parks will provide snacks, water, safety vests, trash bags, and trash pickers. The event will happen in light rain or shine. Rte. 199, Milan.
