Hitting up so many festivals and events all summer long can get expensive so this week we thought we'd save you some money and highlight some of our favorite FREE (or mostly free) things to do this weekend with the kids. Click on the titles of each event for dates, times and locations.

For only $2 a child, children will become detectives, examining skulls and learning about predator/prey. Staatsburg

Bring the kids for a free, drop-in class where kids can explore painting, drawing, printmakig and working with clay. Livingston Manor

Bring a lawn chair and a few dollars for farm-fresh pizza and watch Big Hero 6 with your family. New Paltz

Join neighbors and friends for a free outdoor showing of Beauty and the Beast on the Green! Kingston

Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy music before watching E.T. at dark. Wappingers Falls
Head out to the river for a day of boat races, food,  music, games and more. Poughkeepsie

Help celebrate Henry Knox's birthday with war cannon firings every half hour and talking about artillery. New Windsor

Admission is free but you might want to bring a few dollars for some of the activities and to support the farm. Visit education tables, butterfly tents, story walk, food, barn animals and local vendors. Wappingers Falls
