What could be better than free fun?


It may only be October, but if you're anything like me, you're already working on your holiday shopping budget (and in turn freaking out). To help you save some cash this October, we've found 10 awesome FREE just for you and your family!

Dalmatian Day

This event features of variety of family-friendly activities to celebrate Dalmatians and firefighting.

Sugar Loaf Fall Festival

October 8-10. 10am-6pm. Sugar Loaf Art & Craft Village, 1371 Kings Hwy., Chester. 848-467-8427
This festival features music, food and crafts that the entire family can enjoy.

Forsyth Nature Center Fall Festival

October 9. 10am-4pm. Forsyth Nature Center, 157 Lucas Ave., Kingston. 845-339-3053
Come to the Forsyth Nature Center for food, games, children’s rides, and zoo animals.

41st Annual Apple Time Fair
October
15. 10am-3pm. Cornwall Presbyterian Church, 222 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson. 845-534-2903

Come early for homemade apple pies, baked goods, crafts and holiday items. Check out the books and jewelry and explore Grandma's Bargain Basement. Enjoy gourmet coffee, while the kids participate in the  activities.

Johnny Appleseed Cider Fest 
October
15. 10am-4pm. Prospect Hill Orchards, 73 Clarks Ln., Milton. 845-795-2383

Learn how to use an old-fashioned cider press at the Cider Fest, hosted by Prospect Hill Orchards. You also get to go on a hayride and build your own scarecrow!

Family Free Night 

October 15. 5-8pm. Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, 75 N. Water St., Poughkeepsie. 845-471-0589
Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum will be open late and admission is free thanks to M&T Bank.

Mall-O-Ween Trick or Treat
October
29. 12pm. Poughkeepsie Galleria, 2001 South Rd., Poughkeepsie 845-297-7600

Head to the Poughkeepsie Galleria for trick or treating followed by a costume parade in center court with local radio station Q92 as your DJ for the night!

Trick or Treat Museum Night

October 29. 3-4pm. Orange County Farmers Museum, 850 State Rte. 17K, Montgomery. 845-457-2959
Trick or treating at the OC Farmers Museum for children age 10 and under.

Halloween Parade
October 30. 12:30pm. Village of Monroe, 7 Stage Rd., Monroe. 845-782-8341

Parade starts at the commuter parking lot and proceeds to Smith's Clove Park. Prizes will be awarded for a variety of categories! String Bands will also perform and candy will be given out to the kids.

Trick-or-Treat on Huguenot Street
Oct 31. 4-6pm. Historic Huguenot Street. 81 Huguenot St., New Paltz. 845-255-1660.
Trick or treating for the kids on historic Huguenot Street.
