Study shows young kids are spending too much time in front of a screen

Learn what you can do about it

Rani Alden Long

The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, a non-profit foundation focusing on health policy and communications, did a study that found that children ages six and under spend an average of two hours per day using screen media – about the same amount of time they spend playing outside, and which far surpassed the time they spend reading or being read to (just 39 minutes a day). The study also found that nearly half of children ages six and under have used a computer, and that just under a third have played video games.

Hi Mr Schmitt,Right now there is no program at Prairie Winds aluhtogh several students from the school participated in my summer geocaching program. If you think there would be an interest I will contact the Principal during the winter and inquire about starting a Spring geocaching club there too. I expect I'll also have one at Kilmer. Since geocaching is an outdoor sport it isn't practical to hold a winter session. Thank you for your interest, and if you want a more direct link to me, use Julie Shimon
