Celebrate America's great birthday at one of these (mostly) free Independence Day events today!

4th of July celebration, Come celebrate with a full day of festivities including breakfast, pet show, children's art show, inflatables, games, music, magic, Lobster sale, pie eating contest, shows, and parade ending with fireworks at 9:30pm. 4th of July celebrations, A multi-day celebration of the 4th of July for Highland Falls, Fort Montgomery and West Point. The celebration includes a parade, music, food, fun family activities and spectacular fireworks display. 8am-9pm. Roe Park. 36 Roe Ave, Highland Falls. 

An old-fashioned Independence Day, An old-fashioned Independence Day with 18th century crafts, reenactors, music and entertainment. Enjoy live music, hot food and a view of the Saugerties Fireworks over the Hudson. 2-10pm. Clermont State Historic Site. 87 Clermont Ave., Germantown. 5185374240.

Annual Liberty Festival and Parade, Fun filled day with games, food, face painting, vendors, music, entertainment, and much more for the entire family!! Parade at noon. Rain date July 8. 10:30am-4:30pm. La Polt Park. North Main St., Liberty. 845-292-9797 .

Ellenville 4th of July Parade and Fireworks, Arts, crafts and food at Liberty Square. 12pm parade with floats and bands. Fireworks in the evening at Joseph Y. Resnick Airport. 12pm. Downtown Ellenville. Liberty Square and Joseph Y. Resnick Airport, Ellenville. 845-647-4620 .

Independence Day at Knox’s Headquarters, Celebrate the 4th at two sites hallowed by the soldiers who won our independence. At Knox's Headquarters see a small cannon fired at 1pm and 4pm. POUGHKEEPSIE - Independence Day Rock Golf for Kids, Families participating in our Independence Day celebrations are welcome to join us for this special programming. We’ll be making paper rockets to launch on our stomp rocket launchers. We’ll then use them to play a brand new game, sort of like Frisbee Golf, but with flying rockets!Cost: Free with museum admission or parking pass.Purchase a parking pass by calling 845-471-0589 or stopping by guest services at the museum! 4:00pm - 4:45pm.
