Are we rushing our kindgartners?
Are we rushing our kindgartners?
I truly believe that kindergarten is an important time in a child’s life to play and discover. Kids are naturally curious and love to explore and engage in the world around them. As teachers we need to provide plenty of opportunity for that rich discovery experience. Children love to engage in stories, play with rhymes and many other literacy activities that are developmentally appropriate. Should all children read by the end of kindergarten? No. Some kids will and some kids won’t. The important thing is to promote their love of being learning and their natural curiosity.
