Hudson Valley Parents Can Celebrate Ice Cream During National Ice Cream Month

It's patriotic! Don't feel guilty

Chris O'Neill

As a Hudson Valley Parent, we all know the joy ice cream can give to our kids, and the guilty pleasure we have of eating it ourselves, but did you know there is a month to celebrate this tasty treat?

Since Ronald Reagan declared it in 1984 in hopes to help the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) July has been known as National Ice cream month! In fact Reagan said we should celebrate ice cream throughout July with “appropriate ceremonies and activities," so get in the spirit and celebrate with picnics, family gatherings, or even making your own sundaes.

Show your ice cream pride by making treats from Family Fun Book by Unilever. In 5 min. you can make some Skippy Dippin’ Sundays. All you need is:

1 quart of Breyers all natural ice cream.
½ cup of melted Skippy creamy peanut butter and sprinkles. If peanut butter is not your style then there are plenty of other options like the Peach Melba Dessert.

All you need is 10 min. and:

1 container (1/2 pt.) of raspberries,
2 tbspl of sugar,
1 tsp. of lemon juice,
1 drained can (15oz.) of sliced peaches in light syrup, and
4 scoops of Breyers all natural vanilla ice cream.

Once you have all the ingredients blend the raspberries, sugar and lemon juice until smooth, spoon peaches into 4 dessert dishes, top with Breyers ice cream and drizzle on the raspberry sauce.

Whether you are making a sundae or enjoying you favorite flavor right out of the container show you love for ice cream and national ice cream month.
